Elephant Future (Is there one?)

So this idea that millions of humans are either fascinated with elephant ivory to have on their mantle or they are angry because the elephants are destroying their farms…so they form short term support for the killing of elephants by the tens of thousands. Whaaaat?

Elephants (by most research are on their way to extinction in the wild in the next 30 years…more are killed every day than are being born and it’s a 2 year conception to birth cycle)…

So, I can’t change other people’s bad behavior but I can work towards solutions. I am working with some friends to start a premium online coffee company called “Hello Sweetie Coffee”. And we’re committed to giving $1 to help save the elephants for every bag of coffee we sell. And we have a plan to give the money to help farmers who live next to the elephants build beehive fences to keep the elephants out of their farms.

You see it’s somewhat miraculous, when you help a farmer save his/her crops, they immediately fall in love with the elephants and they help stop the violence to the elephants…Bingo!

Our goal is to build ONE kilometer of bee hive fences in our first year from when we launch.

You see, some scientists who have studied the slaughter of elephants for decades have come to a simple conclusion…(roughly stated) “Make the people safe and the people will make the elephants safe……”

The more I research elephants the more I am humbled by elephants great gift of life that they live and all the things they can teach to us about being more human…they are gentle giants (when not attacked), vegetarian (so they only fight with other animals that attack them), matriarchal (which means the women are in charge of the herds — we humans could learn something from that — Coretta Scott King once said there will be war on earth until women are in charge — ) and a herd is a ‘village’ that is committed to protecting and caring for each other…each mother not only raises her own baby, she helps to raise all the other babies in the herd…the Matriarch doesn’t rest and eat until she’s sure the least among them is taken care of…

I believe humans are 90% good people who care about the others they know…but I think that the media has made many millions of people feel afraid and angry (the media only makes money if people watch …and fear/anger are their low hanging fruit to get us to watch more)…so we end up so anxious it’s hard to take on new struggles and especially when there often seems to be more month than money before the next month starts…

So we, at Hello Sweetiee Coffee will try and do some of the heavy lifting when it comes to trying to save the elephants by selling coffee for the same price as other premiums coffees but we will take one dollar of every coffee bag sale to help some elephants and farmers at the same time…so your coffee will be working a little harder than just drip, drip, drip…

HelloSweetieCoffee.com will have lots of interesting and fun videos about those who are bringing hope to the elephants…and we know a lot about a great cup of coffee so we will share about where we buy and how we roast and how quickly we make sure that we get you your coffee as soon as it’s roasted.

If you’re interested in our work…coffee…elephants, I’ll let you know when our website is up and running…our target is the up coming first World Elephant Day on August 12th…

Be Kind and Be Happy…Richard
