56 men signed the American Declaration of Independence. Every one of them was signing their own death sentence if England defeated their revolt. And yet they signed, and we will never know exactly what they were thinking when they signed. How many times have people assumed that when you did something they thought was brave for reasons that had nothing to do with why you hit the guy in the bar. Or that you quit school, to follow your heart to do something that wouldn’t have paid nearly as much as if you had gotten the degree.
